When it comes to fitness, everyone is looking for that new thing that shreds fat and builds muscle. What they don’t understand is that there are plenty of new fitness programs out there that don’t achieve what was just mentioned. I’m not downplaying other methods, but I sort of am! Although I have relocated thousands of miles away, the one main thing that I miss about Boston is John Wayman and the folks who attend Beantown Bootcamp. John was life changing for me and opened my eyes on how to truly achieve results while getting into better shape. It was sort of an evolution as he introduced me to hardcore outdoor training while maximizing strength with group training using weights, body weight, etc. Unfortunately, while I was there I wasn’t maximizing my efforts in the nutrition department and wasn’t gaining the appropriate muscle in terms of size so I asked him how to eat to get results. “You can’t be afraid of calories, Fuel the muscle, burn the fat” he will say! (Some members abuse that philosophy and eat and drink more than others like the Dooley twins) Anyway, John’s outdoor classes will test in you every way and place the ultimate challenge on yourself. The only way to get better is to keep coming and compare your results. John times and evaluates many of his workouts so you can increase your strength and cardio as you complete the same class weeks later. Don’t worry, there aren’t a bunch of people in your face competing with you and you can go at your pace. The only thing John asks is that you try, and he even offers a scaled down version of the workout if you are a beginner. If you are looking to get results, get there but be prepared to go to work. There are some tough ladies and gents there but they are all very welcoming to newcomers. John is also tough himself, you might encounter a vein or two popping in his neck when he’s demonstrating how “not” to do something. I find it entertaining but also motivating; correct form is the most important thing to John and I don’t want to disappoint him. I have personally seen massive, inspiring, transformations using John’s methods of madness. John acknowledges your achievements with simple praise such as “Nice job buddy” or “you’re killin it bro”. You know he is being honest because he will also tear you to shreds for terrible form. So if you want to see results, get your ass to Beantown and John will be the first to welcome you. I do have to warn you if a Savage comes near you please run, and if a Crim asks if you like boats, tell him you get seasick. If you are lucky enough and become a regular, you can earn one of John’s famous nicknames. I’m Romo by the way and I reside in Dallas, TX so if you are here, let me know! Become a Beast!
